Dragan Despotović graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1989. In connection with his study he stayed in a few European countries (Italy 1995, Switzerland 1998, Netherlands 2005/6)
So far he has had 45 independent exhibitions and has participated in more than 80 group exhibitions.
His work entitled "The Potato Eaters" was exhibited at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam on video installation from November 2014 to January 2016. The theme of the exhibition was "The influence of Van Gogh on contemporary artists".
He has participated in several artist-in-residence programs.
His works are established in collections of museums and galleries at home and abroad, as well in many private collections in Europe, South America, Canada and Australia.
